WANTING A full length novel with strong mainstream elements. The first in the River City series.
Businessman Mac McGuire fell head over heels in love with Amanda Conner. His money has always gotten him what he wanted, but not this time. He's trying to rescue her from the poverty and violence of River City's housing projects and pull her into his glamorous world of downtown high-rises and opulence. Mac is used to risking everything and winning, but he realizes that wanting Amanda could cost him everything. Is that a price he's willing to pay?

I downloaded this book in Oct. 2012 and now it's May and I'm royally pissed with myself. This story really touched me not only in a feel good kind of way; but in a really deep heart-wrenching manner. I'm not going to get into any indept spoliers but I firstly was a bit miffed how "Mac" - just gravitated towards "Amanda" he appeared very firm in the beginning but overtime you'd understand the reason for that. Loved the storyline -" successful entrepreneur falls in love with lady from the projects who whilst being a bit timid initially ensured he understood that she wasn't interested in becoming his project".
I thought it was a bit overdone how Mac used his finances but by 40% in I realized his genuine interest wasn't tainted with inferior motives and he really felt secured and strongly for Amanda and her family - and He had to consciously & deliberately identify to her that she rightly deserved his expressions of love.
What I didn't like was the manner in which her younger brother expressed his concern about their relationship ( he was rather inquisitive about their intimate life and " how far they had gotten!" BUT again E. Ayers rectified this brash concern of his as the story developed. Additionally I thought Tess' introduction as Amanda's b.f came rather late but inspite of she and her family were a pleasant compliment to the story..
I just don't get how one's supposedly best friend won't have insight into a past negative experience as tortured as Amanda's especially if siad experience will no doubt will've a negative impact on a new relationship.(Truthfully I missed the shared conversations and input of the usual b.f.f relationship)
I can go on and on but what I can re-assure you of is - This is a wonderful beginning to a delicious series and you won't regret the time spent devouring this book. Happy Reading! - It has left me Wanting indeed :)

P:S - I'm dying to know what are ya' ll reaction to "Mac's reaction" regarding Amanda's " menses" as he puts it.. ( I'm. 30 been married 3 yrs and I hate to speak about"menses" to anyone ( mum; husband; b.f.f) outside a medical practitioner. I know I can hear ya'll thinking loudly !!- she's nuts lol... but seriously what do ya'll think. I firmly believe E.Ayers did a fantabulous job!

Wanting Mac and Amanda Story A River City Novel Book 1 eBook E Ayers Reviews

Wanting gets 3 stars rather than 2 because I was able to finish the book. The main character, Mac, is stilted and unbelievably successful. The amount of money he lays out is pretty outrageous combined with his remarkable restraint in other areas of his life. There, also, seem to be some gaps in the history of Amanda who has been raising her siblings since her mother's incarceration. While I did finish the book, it was pretty flat.
this book was a slow read the story itself was alright the story touched on some real life issues butnot one of my must reads
I really wish I could've given this book a better review but it was very lacking. It was like a modern day fairy tale that did not have a conflict. The main female Amanda, was understandably emotionally skittish but while reading this book especially in the beginning I had to remind myself that she was 21 and not 12 and this turned me off a bit. One minute she doesn't want anything to do with Mac the next minute she's expecting him to purchase two properties for her family and her friends family. It was filled with too many insignificant details like every single decorative detail about their new house. I was waiting for something, ANYTHING to add a little bit of conflict to this series to make it somewhat realistic but it was just two people meeting, very slowly developing a relationship and a life together. Maybe it's just me but it became a bit boring for me.
Just letting you bookworms know that this was a great story. The first in a series.

I was drawn in from the first chapter and captivated until the end.....then sent searching for the next book n the series so I could see what happened next to Mac and Amanda.

I lived their love and loved their love!

Highly recommend. 5 stars
I love stories where the characters are not perfect and this book fits right along with that idea. Amanda is emotionally guarded due to her history and Mac is emotionally attached from the start. Instead of her falling for him and being attracted to him for what he can provide for her, she is resistant to even date him. The mystery of not immediately knowing why Amanda acted the way she did kept me reading. Loved the characters, how the story unfolded, and the happily-ever-after.
Wanting is a heartwarming story of hope and love. It's a tale of two very different people from opposite sides of the tracks who fall in love and attempt to build a bridge between their worlds.

Mac is a noble hero intent on protecting and helping Mandy even when it means setting his own needs aside. Mandy with her scars makes an interesting heroine, one who grows throughout the story. Her commitment to her siblings is admirable. She's a hard worker with a tough background who doubts Mac's intentions at first. With time and patience, Mac slowly breaks down her walls and learns about her troubled past. While helping her to cope with the scars of her childhood, he eases his way into Mandy's world while introducing her to his.

Although it deals with a difficult subject in terms of Mandy's past, Wanting is a touching novel about the good in people and what they can accomplish in spite of pain and hardship. If you are looking for a quick, engaging read with a good story, I highly recommend this book.
Wanting is a beautiful, intense, hopeful (and really steamy) novel. Mac would never consider himself as a fairy ale white knight, but for Amanda and her brother and sister that is exactly what he is. This book is no fairyt ale, and up to this point Amanda's life makes Cinderella's look great, but Mac sure looks like prince charming to her. The question for her to determine is whether or not a prince charming can be real in this day and age or whether it is a case of "It it looks too good to be true, it probably is".
This was my first River City novel and I will be checking out the other two.
